I get inspired by the new and old I love looking through recipies of my mom's and Grandmothers' and baking them for my memories and to show the flavours to my children. I tend to make a double batch so that I can take 1/2 of it and ramp it up into something new like Ginger Marmalade jelly roll ( making the other 1/2 of the batch with my Grandma Fraser's traditional crab apple jelly)
Or taking my Mom's jelly recipe and adding exotic spices to it like Harrissa. -
My inspirations come from all around me. I will see something made on tv and think on how I can make it. I also get recipes from friends and family, sometimes I even try to improve them. I love experimenting in the kitchen trying out new things. -
My inspiration usually comes from a cookbook/magazine/tv show or even my own mom! Some times I am inspired to find a way to use thos peaches up or to use the tomatoes from the garden in different recipes. It's always more satisfying when you make something at home! -
I'm always inspired by cravings. If I get a craving for something it jump starts my desire to find something amazing to make with it. Half the time I end up spending hours researching, then hours cooking or baking, all while starving and working away. But the end result is always fantastic and I always end up satisfied in the end. -
My inspirations come from my mom's home made everything. She never bought anything pre-made and always ensured that whether it was breakfast, lunch, supper or desert, it was wholesome and good for us {for the most part!}. I use the Kraft recipes on a daily basis, creating fabulous meals for my family and friends, then I pass off the recipes to others in order for them to share them with their loved ones. It's a great way to socialize and compare! It's customary for us ladies to share recipes we love and Kraft always gives us plenty of good reasons to keep our families healthy while enjoying our meals! Thank you for continously sharing great ideas..I just received my fall book and have already started to tag the pages! -
Hi Everyone ~ I get inspired to cook seasonally and because of particular celebrations and festivals. Today my adult children and three little grandsons are visiting for the Corn and Apple Festival in Morden, Manitoba. So, fresh buttered corn on the cob sprinkled with crushed rosemary is amust on our menu; also fresh apples from my six apple trees are an endless idea for cooking this time of year. We enjoyed them baked with cinamon and maple syrup along side baked smoked farmer's sausage which is a cultural treat for us. Our little grqndsons just had birthdays in the past month, so I made original healthy chocolate muffins using whole wheat flour, mashed bananas in the batter and icing them with nutella instead of regular icing. Then I built them into a cake tower with candles of course! Delightful... -
My inspirations come when I am baking or cooking. I generally search the web sights for a recipe that seems to suit the occasion I am making it for. I generally stick to the recipe for the first time, sometimes tweaking it with an ingredient or two, and if it is a success I make notes what went well and file it away. Then the real successes get remade with ideas that come to mind or that incorporate the person's favorite flavors.
Little note to Debbie - don't be intimidated by recipes and photos you see on this and any other site. We all start somewhere and pick things up along the way. Philly has some terrific cheesecake recipes that are not difficult and delicious. Happy baking! -

I am always trying to become a better cook particularly with main courses. One of the inspirations for me is the exposure to foods from various countries. Two of my children have traveled extensively and live abroad (Spain and France). Whenever we visit or they come home there is always something new to add to our food plans. I love how open these two are to experiencing new tastes and cultures and they always like to cook with me or send a recipe. After a recent trip to Madrid I have been hooked on some of the wonderful "tapas" dishes we enjoyed.I have been trying to recreate what seemed to be a simple"tortilla" but there was something amazing in the flavour that I can't seem to get just right. -
God has blessed me with a wonderful family! My Granny was an awesome basic cook, and my Grandma gift was desserts! They had always inspired me to create wonderful meals from the beginning to the end, as much as possible from scratch for the best flavour! Now with 4 little grandchildren, (all under the age of 3)they want to help this new Granny. What a joy it is to share special time in the kitchen with the little ones. It amazes me what their imagination creates. Trully a blessing! -
I become culinary inspired after looking through my many cookbooks and watching the food network channel. Once I create a dish, I love to surprise my husband with it. He is always full of compliments whether it is good or not lol. He is so sweet, and inspires me to cook again soon. -
My inspiration comes from anywhere and everywhere - I try other people's good and travel a lot for work, so if I find something I like I try to imitate the recipe (or often come up with something even better!), also seasonal produce is a huge inspiration for me. I love to experiment, so picking something up at the farmers market that I've never cooked with before always leads to some interesting creations! -
no inspiration for me, I am new to cooking and baking, I was inspired to make my first cheesecake by your contest, but seeing the professional looking pictures and products I think I am on the wrong board and forum, I need to go where I don't feel like such a complete loser. -
I am completely inspired by my amazingly gifted 16 year old daughter, when I had to have a life saving surgery in 2008, my then 12 year old daughter ( oldest of 3 ) took over the cooking and caring for the house to help me .. She continues that to this day .. The most amazing part is that this child makes up the most amazing recipes from scratch .. She will look at the ingredients and spices and such that she has available and will make the most unbelievable dishes ( on top of everything she is a straight A student) .. I have spina bifida and hydrocephalus and was told I would never have kids.. and I have 3 ( Now ages 16,15,13 all honor students and model teenagers truly) and so yeah .. My children are gifts from God and they inspire me on a daily basis .. PS she is a much better cook that I ever was.. LOL .. thank you for giving me an opportunity to share that with you .. -

My Grandma used to bake everything from scratch. I would stay with my grandparents in the summer for a month, either at the cottage or their apartment. She baked constantly and I always helped. She inspired me to bake then. Now it's my 2 kids and trying to find healthy ways to make treats they love. -
I have to say I am most often inspired by nature... the colour combinations, the fresh smells of herbs, etc. Even paying attention to what naturally grows well together in the garden...they are perfect combinations in cooking too! -
Hi there, My inspiration comes with the knowledge and expectation that when my grandchildren come to visit, usually on a Saturday or a Sunday, they anxiously wait for the meal to be over, ask me if they can help me make the coffee. As soon as they ask me that I know that they are wondering what treat I have for them. They are so adorable 6 & 8 and they love treats at nonna's house. So I try and have something different as well as their favorites for their visits.
It's a joy to see their eyes light up. Have a wonderful day. -
I have to admit, that pinterest has inspired me and often I get sidetracked by it for a good 30 min if not more. Esp if its a post from a normal person instead of from a professional mag. At least then I know its something that a reg person, who's not that comfy in the kitchen, can do -
My inspiration comes from dishes that I have tried in restaurants and want to give my own twist to or recipes that I see on TV. I was inspired by a trip to Guatemala to create a cheesecake, and boy was it good! :) -
My Mom is my biggest inspiration, a few years ago we collected a whole bunch of family recipes and created a cookbook for my cousin's wife for her shower call "Family Recipes, Tried and True" and gave it to all our other family members as well. It is great to have these on hand. -
