What’s on your list of baking essentials?
Does a stand mixer top your list? Could you imagine life without a rolling pin? How many mixing bowls does it take for you to bake your favourite recipe? Or do you have other unique and unusual tools such as a family heirloom that gives everything you bake the magic touch?

I can't cook or espically bake without my hand held and stand Kitchen Aid mixers. I have a lot of "toys" that I love and use all the time but the mixers are my base line. My daughter reciently had her hand held mixer died and I bought her a new Kitchen Aid. Then her stand mixer started to have trouble, so I had a word with Santa and she'll get one for Christmas. -
Is it silly to admit that a simple spatula is probably the most utilized tool in my kitchen? I have a crazy collection of them.
And, I also must say that I enjoy using my Santoku knife - it is all purpose and popular.......so popular that I had to buy one for my husband so we could both have one when we cook and bake together! -
I can`t imagine my kitchen without ALL of my tools (I get teased about my huge arsenal), but I have to say I would hate to give up my two favorite whisks and my well-used and seasoned baking stones...and my parchment paper...and my gigantic old crockery bowl for rising bread dough. -

I love my silicone tray liners! Nothing sticks to them, easy clean up and great for cookies, rolls, scones.... You name it!! -
Definitely my stand mixer! It is the work-horse in my kitchen... Whether it's mixing dough for bread or whipping egg whites, it frees up my hands so I can do two things at once. With a 10 month-old baby keeping me busy, that is a great thing! -
my baking essentials, are the silcone muffin liners ( easy cleanup), ice cream scoop for muffins and cookies, and paper towels for fast clean up -
I agree with the both of you -- the cookie dough scoop makes for perfect cookies. And those measuring cups sound great, Fanterra -- I'll have to see if I can find those! -
I love my bamboo spoons, my mixing bowl with a pour spout and cookie dough scoop. I also have a wet ingredient measuring cup that is great! You push the bottom up and things like honey, butter and peanut butter shoot right out with no messy clean up. When my boyfriend is helping me bake he just goes and grabs it out of the cupboard knowing for sure I will be using it! -
I really don't have one favorite. As someone who sees food as art, all I really need is a bowl and a wooden mixing spoon and I can whip you up something yummy. The one item I have really come to appreciate over the years though is the cookie dough scoop. I love it when all of my cookies are almost identical in size, and roundness. There is something very satisfying about perfection in baking and the scoop makes a difference for me.
