Nothing feels more luxurious than sitting down for a nice, old-fashioned teatime! There are the different varieties of tea, the petit fours, the cucumber sandwiches and, best of all, chatting with your companions!
I recently took a few of my girlfriends out to celebrate one of our dearest friend’s birthday, and we also showered her with gifts in addition to all the yummy treats on the table. It was an unforgettable afternoon.
Do you enjoy teatime? Tell us all about it below. And, remember, if you’re hosting your own tea gathering at home, there are numerous appetizers and desserts in our Recipe Gallery to prepare!

I grew up drinking tea with my Mom, Grandma and next door neighbor. Somewhere along the way of career and having 5 kids I have lost the ability to sit and enjoy a cup of tea. It has now been replaced by hurried trips to the coffee shop for a quick jolt of energy to clean and drive children from one activity to another. One of the only mementos I have of my Grandma is her China which has been in the China cabinet of my home for 6 years.
Over Easter we had friends over for supper and an Easter Egg Hunt. After supper I offered my British friend a "spot of tea" after supper. I decided to dust off Grandma's china for the first time and brewed a pot of tea for the ladies at the table. It was actually quite emotional for me to drink out of my Grandmother's tiny china cup, to sit with good friends, and have our house full or laughter and children running through the kitchen.
I hope one day my daughters will be able to entertain their friends at their homes and serve a pot of tea from the same Royal Albert "Lavender Rose" fine china and take the time to savor the tea and the friendship.
Cheers!

That sounds adorable, Lily! And great that you will be having a teatime this weekend. This last one was so much fun (and a tasty treat), it just reminds me that I should definitely indulge in them more often. -
I love teatime! In fact what first comes to mind is my new picture book that I just wrote called 'Teatime with Harmony Hen'. I presented the manuscript at the SCBWI intensives which was a wonderful experience but another story.
My favorite teatime hosting is at preschool! Being a preschool teacher, I get to set up 'teatime' for the the preschoolers. The table is set with a tablecloth, pink cups and saucers, plates, spoons, forks and 'pretend food'. Some children go to the dress-up section and put on hats, dresses or carry purses before sitting down for 'tea'. The 'tea' part is water but in the minds of the preschoolers...there are pretty cakes and petit fours like in the grown-up world they so love to emulate.
This weekend, I will be hosting a 'teatime' with my niece and nephew. Thank you for the inspiration!
All the best,
Lily
