Hi, everyone!
My kitchen has not been updated since it was built in the ’60s. Sometimes I find it adorable, vintage and eclectic, but other times I definitely feel like I’m living in a time warp! So it was a joy to see some entries by people who were definitely in the same boat.
Christina dreams of a new kitchen, but “awakes to a 1950s nightmare.” She wants to makeover her dated appliances and cabinets.
Fish’s daughter describes her father’s’60s kitchen as like a museum, with the flowery wallpaper, linoleum flooring and avocado green appliances. His kids tell him he should charge admission!
As a stay-at-home mom, SindyAS loves to cook her family hearty meals, but, as she explains in her fun video, it would be easier for her with a more efficient kitchen.
With its pink and grey linoleum floor, metal cabinets and leaky window, Alicia’s kitchen has not been renovated since the house was built in 1960. Alicia and her husband have a newborn and she feels their growing family would truly benefit from a bigger and better environment to work in.
Blondy got all dolled up in her finest attire to make her video in July of 1972. Wait, it’s 2012? She was entirely convinced by her kitchen that it was still the ’70s!
Thanks, everyone, for sharing your videos! Starting Monday, we’ll be announcing the finalists and winner of our Kitchen of Your Dreams contest so see you back here then. My fingers are crossed for all of you!
Have a glorious weekend.
Miss Philly

It is so interesting to see kitchens and how lives revolve around them. All I can say is there is NO way I would take my dishes downstairs to the dishwasher...that brings back memories of having to haul water to wash dishes, or melt snow. Somebody get that man's dishwasher upstairs for him. -
These are all so great! SandyAS - I felt like I was transported back through time! What a creative and entertaining video :-) -
I have those very buttons on my stove as well! As I said above, it was cute when I moved in, now I just long for a dial to control the heat levels! I think half of the things I cook would be perfect with the heat set right in between the button labelled 2 and the button labelled 3. -
Great collection :)
I used to have the same appliances as Christina. When we had out 1st son my husband had to put an electrical switch in the cupboard with the stove-top wired through it. You had to flick the switch on before the buttons would work. That way my little one could not play with the push buttons and burn the house down.
