Spotlight: Going Fruity!
Happy Friday, everyone!
As the entries are pouring in to our Cheesecake of the Year contest, I am enjoying each and every one. They all have something fun and special about them and they all look so tasty! Today, I've chosen to spotlight a selection of recipes that use fruit to dress up their cheesecakes.
First, we have two fabulous banana treats:
The Banana Bliss Cheesecake, submitted by jangle, is what she calls "the perfect combination of bananas and peanut butter!" Bananas and peanut butter in cheesecake? I'm in heaven!
Jen H put bananas to wonderful use, accompanying the strawberry -- classic! -- in her Banana Burst Cheesecake. Her daughter has always loved banana and strawberry and she has always loved to experiment with desserts! "I thought this would be fun for the kids & a hit with the adults."
Let's not forget the power of citrus! As we mentioned in our Cheesecake 101: The Toppings post, the zing of citrus goes so well with a creamy cheesecake:
Urb'n'Spice describes her Citrus and Vanilla Cheesecake as "quite refreshing with its citrus zest and fresh citrus juice."
And in a more autumnal blend, Terri Gilson's Cranberry Orange Bread Pudding Cheesecake is, to quote Terri, "a union of tasty cranberry bread pudding, light Philadelphia cream cheese, ricotta, citrus caramel sauce, with an unexpected and welcome toffee crunch." Wow -- there is nothing in that list of deliciousness that doesn't excite me!
Dollydom mixes the magic of citrus with the magic of blueberries in her Lemonberry Cheesecake. "With the crispy crust, lemony glaze and the pop of fresh blueberries in a seductively rich filling," says dollydom, "this cheesecake is guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser!"
Leigh-Ann presents a very berry-full treat with her Newfoundland Partridgeberry Cheesecake. Her entry showcases partridgeberries, a "Newfoundland favorite" that pop up this time of year!

I don't think I'll ever run out of cheesecake recipes or inspiration for more cheesecake recipes, thanks to this contest :). May the best cheesecake win, and be sure to vote for my cheesecakes as well! :D -
