I like to display the pottery that we have collected by using the pieces to hold napkins, fruit and wine bottle corks. We have saved the corks from special occasions and wrote the date, event and people present on them--a bowl full of memories! -
I like to keep my aero herb garden on my countertop along with several of my latest cookbooks and cooking magazines for inspiration. I also like to let my tomatoes ripen on the counter, there's nothing like it. During the evening when all is quiet I like to look through my books and magazines for ideas for the following day's meals, that is my time... my reward. -
We have a basket of fruits in on place, bottle of sauces, oil and vinegar on the counter, the wall cabinets' doors are wood framing glass so we can see all are plates and bowls. -
I have a few favourite pieces I rotate through according to the season. I like a clutter free countertop with a pop of interesting gadgets, that could be an appliance, flowers or lots of herbs.. I love growing my own basil from seed, so I usually have Basil growing. At Xmas my favorite kitchen sparkle is to add fresh cranberries to a beautiful glass decanter; add water and drop a small tea light in the middle. The red is always a great accent color.... -
I keep my chrome mixer out and have my utensils in a stainless steel holder on my island. Love to have a bowl of fruit on the table at all times. -
I like to display just a few of my favourite baking appliances, such as my toaster oven, mixer and spice rack, plus of course it is convenient to always have them at hand -
to add a little sparkle I love to display some colourful mixing bowls on the counters full of lemons or other fruits and with a farmer's market within 6 km, I love to have fresh flowers in the kitchen, love walking into the kitchen and seeing a bright punch of colour, makes me smile! -
Well, I really like to have a clean sink and counter right around the sink. If that's done, the rest of the kitchen is usually pretty good...sparkly? Not sure about that, but clean and tidy is kinda sparkly I guess :) -
My kitchen is always a busy place and keeping it clean and organized is always a challenge. I always keep the counters cleared up as possible. I have a great glass bowl that works as fruit bowl and piece of art on the counter. Some fresh flowers as add a nice fresh look and smells great! -
I love placemats and change them regularly to match my mood and give the kitchen extra sparkle. I just leave a couple on the table between meals and it brightens up everything. -
our family loves to eat especially the kids, but the mess is always being left out after.i hate to see clutters around my kitchen,i kept the sink clear out of dirty dishes and i used a soft sponge with soap to clean up my counters and dry them up with clean microfiber cloth.i organize my cabinets according spices, sauces and baking needs, they all have their spots so i know where to grab them depends on my mood...and i put baking sodas in a decorative container on the top of the cabinets to keep the odors away the kitchen and sometimes i peel off some oranges or slice some lemons and place it a saucer and on the counter tops just for an hour to make the kitchen smells good and inviting... -

Our biggest problem is clutter. So when I want the kitchen to sparkle, I get rid of the clutter and then shine up the counters and appliances. It feels so good!! -
When I first had children I was in desperate organization anxiety. I found a newsletter online called flylady. She said no matter what keep your sink shiny. It helps you feel good when you wake up in the morning. You are more likely to continue with other tasks to keep the rest of the kitchen shiny (Sparkle). As for decorating, I go with the age of our home. I find pieces from yester year to decorate in the style of my home. Turn of century farmhouse (1906) in Edwardian style. My big purchase one day will be a restored hoosier. -
Have you ever used sudsy ammonia to really makes things sparkle? I work in a chemistry lab and my co-worker pointed out that sudsy ammonia will cut grease and make the beakers shine. At home it's great for getting wine glasses positively twinkling. I also soak my oven grates in the bathtub, covering them with water and about three quarters of a bottle of sudsy ammonia. The burnt on mess come off with little or no scrubbing. -
I like to have the counter and floors clutter free. Mopped the floors. Clean the stove top and windows. Clean out the fridge and wipe it down. Throw away stale or old food. I always have my windows open to bring in fresh air. My window coverings are sheer so I always have sunlight coming in. I always use Febreze or baking soda in my garbage cans. I like to bake homemade cookies to make the house smell sweet and yummy. -
One of my favorite things to do is make something that is aromatic. I take regular tea and brew it in a pot with apple juice and cinnamon sticks. It simmers throughout the day, giving that fresh baked aroma that people always comment aboutl -
I made my own valance's for my kitchen windows and doors, about 4 sets of different colors. It's nice to have a few different colors to choose from so I can change them from season to season or whenever I feel like something new. I also have different colored towels and oven mitts (which hang on the side of my fridge) it's nice to change the 'pop' of color in the kitchen from time to time. Whenever I change them it gives a nice fresh look and gives me all new inspirations. -
Dandelions from my kids in a cup on the table. Pictures of friends and family on the fridge. Drawings made by my kids on the wall. That's what makes my kitchen sparkle! -
I keep a big bowl of tomatoes, onion and garlic on the counter and fresh herbs in my window. When I see them, it inspires me to use them to create something fantastic! -
I love it when my large appliances sparkle. I clean my stove top kettle, and my toaster, and of course the toaster oven and microwave,so that when I turn on the light it bounces off with the shine. I also have a couple of crystals that hang in my kitchen window and when the sun hits them just right, it adds a great rainbow effect on the cupboards and walls.
My cupboards are very dark but hopefully that will change if I win the Kitchen of your dreams contest. ;- -
I have a Bamboo large serving platter that I keep for fresh bread and fruit on my microwave, it brightens up the space. I also love having fresh flowers on my counter near my sink and love to have fresh buns on my counter ready for snacking, breakfast with peanut butter & jam, or melted cheese & garlic spread for lunch or supper. I love the idea of flavour baskets for your theme cooking Anna, I am so going to try that, thanks for the tip. Does anyone have any good tips on growing herbs in your kitchen if you have no window sill in it? I really liked Anna's pots and that is the size that could work on my kitchen top! -
I try and keep it neat and organized with counter tops free of clutter, also fresh cut flower at the table!!
