Are you all looking forward to the Thanksgiving holiday? I am!
Michael and I often host an "orphan” Thanksgiving. Working in the restaurant biz for so long, you run into staff, friends, exchange students or other such people who can't get home for the Thanksgiving weekend.

We open our doors to this lot, and have had some fantastically memorable and fun evenings! It's amazing the conversations and laughter that a group of strangers can have by simply coming together over a meal. To me, that is the true spirit of Thanksgiving.
Do you have stories of welcoming people to your holiday feast? I’d love to hear them.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, one and all!

Every Thanksgiving is a "hobo" Thanksgiving at my mother's house. She invites the neighbors who don't have family, or my friends who aren't from town and are Thanksgiving Dinner-less. And, they are always the best! Great conversations! -
When my son was in university 12 hrs away, it was just too far to get home at Thanksgiving. Thanks to the many parents of kids he coached in hockey he always had a turkey dinner somewhere and made lots of friends in the process. -

My daughter lives in the US but still celebrated Canada's thanksgiving with a Canadian thanksgiving meal. -

when my dad was alive, we'd all go to their house, all of us siblings and spouces and kids, mom and dad would invite anyone else who they knew was by themselves as well
since he passed on we barely get together any more -
i remember when I was 22 years old, living far from home, and new to a community. I had accepted a position in nursing and did not know one soul from the town. I started in Sept, one of the young men that worked at the hospital invited me to join his parents and extended family to celebrate Thanksgiving since I was going to be alone, I had only known him a few weeks. I was made feel so welcome, and the family traditions were so different from my own family's. I only lived in that town for one year, but have never forgotten that wonderful experience, and remember that family ever year in my prayers for thanksgiving. It was 34 years ago. -
I have no stories to share but I would gladly become an orphan for a day just to eat at the Thanksgiving table of two accomplished chefs, LOL! -
My family has had casual acquaintances at our Thanksgiving dinners almost every year. And I've actually been an "orphan" at a Thanksgiving, to a lovely and warm family, once when I was back in school. I think this is one of my favorite times of year! Everyone is so kind and giving. -
