Cooking with Philly Recipe: Creamy Grilled Shrimp Tacos
Hopefully everyone fired up the barbecue for the long weekend! If not, get ready because this is a recipe not to miss. It is one of my new Philly favourites. After taking a street-food tour of Latin and South American food on a recent trip to New York, I have been craving authentic tacos. This recipe is as close as I’ve gotten to making them at home.
Shrimp is the most popular seafood in Canadian kitchens, and combining it on the grill with creamy Savoury Garlic Cooking Creme makes for a delicious taco filling. The corn tortillas in the recipe are sometimes hard to find. Look in the freezer section of your local grocer (as that is where they typically can be found) or in any ethnic or specialty market. They are worth the hunt, as their sweet, nutty corn flavour really is necessary for authentic taco flavour. Of course, if you can’t find them, small flour tortillas work in a pinch. Crunchy coleslaw and salsa add the final touch.

Try salsa verde (tomatillo salsa) for a switch or toss the coleslaw with a little lime juice and some pickled jalapeños or green chilis for a bit of added heat. OK, I need to go make them now, my mouth is watering! Enjoy.
