For my first post as your appetizer host, so you can all get to know me a little better, I wanted to share a few things that many people do not know about me.
1) I have no middle name. Neither do any of my three older sisters. My parents wanted our first names to flow into our last names, so all of our first names end with the letter "A."

2) I met my husband while we were sitting in traffic at a red light. We were supposed to meet a little while later through an introduction, but we happened to be at the same intersection when he pulled up behind me and saw me bopping to the music in my car. He was on a motorcycle and I asked him to follow me home.

3) Even my pets are somewhat food related. My dog is a poodle named Noodle and 1 of my cats is 30 lbs. Need I say more?

4) You may already know that Christmas Eve is my favourite family and food holiday, especially because of our seafood extravaganzas, but many people don't know that my second favourite holiday is Halloween. It is not just because of the candy and treats, but also because I like to dress up in silly costumes.
5) I always sing in the shower. Only my closest family members know this and I can't exactly post a photo or video, I just thought I'd tell you while we were sharing...
I hope that you feel that you now know me a little better and I look forward to getting to know all of you better over the coming months through your videos, posts and as we grow as a community.

Angela, I wish I had come to Toronto and could have met you - you seem like an awesome person - perfect Appy Host! I love your story of meeting your husband!
I met my husband Stu when I applied for a job at the Keg. He was the General Manager and I was 20 years old at the time. There were 80 people applying for one lunch waitress postition all in one area of the restaurant waiting to be interviewed. Stu says he saw me in the line-up and hurried through his interview so he could talk to me next.
I had my interview with him, got the job and we beagn dating 6 months later. That was 26 years ago!

Cindy, you are so right.
And the motorcycle story is even better when they tell it in person - they actually have "parts." Truly, two awesome people!

One more thing you should know about our appetizer host is how thoughtful she is. When she joined my husband and I for dinner here on Vancouver Island she remembered a conversation we had in Toronto where I told her I collect vintage cookbooks. To my surprise and delight, she presented me with two very nice, mint quality volumes of Meta Givens Modern Encyclopedia of Cooking.
Love her! (and her wonderful husband)

In hindsight, it is pretty lucky I only shared 5 things. Now I feel like I need to see pictures of all of you in silly costumes. I guess now I have to find an unbeatable costume for this Halloween - stay tuned to see what I come up with in October.

Angela, since you love Halloween so much, do those cute animals get dressed up too? I am curious to see what a 30-lb cat looks like in a costume. :)
